Denis Dean, EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc., RPBio #2809, Kimberley, BC
I am seeking re-election to the College of Applied Biologists (CAB) Board to continue serving our registrants and the public interest. Having served as a CAB Board Member since 2023, and previously as a Director with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (2018–2020), I bring extensive regulatory experience to this role. My primary goal is to bridge the gap between complex environmental regulations and public understanding, while solidifying the College’s position as the essential authority for applied biology in British Columbia.

Jason Emery, RBTech

Jason Emery, Nature Trust BC, RBTech #1, Delta, BC
As a Registered Applied Biology Professional (RBTech) and senior conservation leader with over two decades of experience in natural resource management, ecological restoration, environmental assessment and regulatory compliance, I have built my career at the intersection of science, governance, and public interest. I currently serve as Director of Conservation Land Management with a provincial land conservation organization. Throughout my career, I have led multidisciplinary professional teams, overseen complex regulatory and permitting processes, provided expert testimony in legal proceedings and worked closely with Indigenous communities, government agencies, industry proponents and nonprofit
partners.
I am deeply committed to upholding the integrity, credibility and accountability of the applied biology profession. As a long-standing member of the College, I value its role in protecting the public interest, advancing professional standards and supporting registrants in delivering competent, ethical practice. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to strategic governance, policy oversight and continued evolution of the regulatory framework in a manner that reflects both scientific rigor and public trust. I believe my executive leadership experience, governance exposure and strong understanding of regulatory environments would allow me to make a meaningful contribution to the Board.

Kim Klaczek, RBTech

Kim Klaczek, BC Ministry of Environment and Parks, RBTech #87, Prince George, BC
I would be honoured to serve as the first RBTech on the Board. I am passionate about elevating the visibility and voice of technicians and technologists within the profession. I am committed to strengthening representation, collaboration, and recognition for our whole community.
With a 16-year career as an environmental technologist, I have worked in consulting and in both federal and provincial public service. I currently work for the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks. I bring a practical, grounded perspective and a collaborative, respectful working style.
My introduction to the talented folks behind the College came through a Scope of Practice Workshop during development of the Professional Governance Act. I have served on the Nominations Committee twice, the RBTech and ABT Scope of Practice Task Force, the 2025 Conference Planning Working Group, and now the Discipline Committee—experience that has deepened my understanding of governance, regulation, and public trust.

As a past councillor for the College and past Chair / Vice-Chair, I have been involved in the evolution of the Professional Reliance Act and the role of the College in advancing applied biology and our accountability to the public.

As a biologist living and working in Northern BC, NWT and the Yukon I feel that I bring a balanced perspective to council. Bob Redden, RPBio*

Bob Redden, EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc, RPBio #1256, Prince George, BC
Since joining the Board in 2024, I have been deeply committed to the College of Applied Biologist’s mission of upholding professional standards in the public interest. Having transitioned from my career as a CEO, I have dedicated a significant amount of my available time and strategic expertise to the College, and I am now seeking your support to serve as Vice-Chair.
My tenure on the Board has been defined by active, hands-on contribution. I successfully served as Chair of the 2025 Conference Planning Working Group and continue to support as a member for the 2026 Conference planning; I have also served as a member of the Credentialing Standard Review Taskforce and am currently engaged with other Board members in the recruitment of our future CEO.
I have been a member of many not-for-profit and business boards over the years which has allowed me to gain the skills and experiences needed to assist CAB and contribute as Vice-Chair of the Board. I always work in a collaborative and respectful manner. I am very thoughtful, always trying to review data/information and consider various perspectives to inform decision making. Thank you for your consideration.
