DESCRIPTION:It is with great pleasure that the Canadian Herpetological Society invites you to their 12th Annual Conference on September 20 to 23 in beautiful Sidney (Victoria)\, British Columbia. \nThe CHS mandate is to foster research and conservation of Canada’s reptiles and amphibians. This will be a great opportunity to network with the top herpetologists in BC and Canada who gather to share their research\, conservation initiatives\, and success stories. The last time the conference was held in BC was back in 2018 as locations rotate around Canada every year. It may be a few years before it comes out west again\, so take advantage! The CHS conference starts with a half-day conservation genetics workshop and informal meet and greet on Friday at the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea\, followed by two days of talks and their annual general meeting. There will be a banquet dinner on Saturday and the conference wraps up with field trips to various field sites on southern Vancouver Island on Monday. \nIf you have a conservation project\, natural history observations\, or research findings related to Canada’s reptiles or amphibians\, they’d welcome you to submit an abstract for a poster or platform presentation. Platform and poster sessions during the conference cover all aspects of amphibian and reptile conservation biology and herpetological research (e.g.\, population dynamics\, genetics\, diseases\, commercial harvest\, status assessment\, recovery plans\, monitoring\, habitat protection\, etc.). Presentations on citizen science\, education\, and ethics projects are also welcome. \nAbstract submission deadline: July 31\, 2024
